This is a very attractive and traditional hotel in the very heart of the French Quarter. It has the bonus of not looking its full seven storeys in height, thus blending in well with the attractive surrounding blocks. Rooms are sumptuous. On a clear day you can almost see Mississippi - the state not the river - from the unique rooftop deck, a feature sadly missing from many other hotels, but emblematic of the many thoughtful details here. Rooms are mostly large and are decorated in pastels and furnished with traditional-style pieces that don't feel like the usual commercial grade stuff often found in a chain. Note that the cheapest rooms tend to be small and dark and, if you want your own balcony, expect prices to run right up to the top-end scale. If you've had a few - or you're just feeling playful - you may wish to try imitating the monumental poses of the chandelier wielding statues inside the entrance.
