The W brings an aura of chic to the French Quarter. Like all W Hotels, this one wears its style on its little sleeve. Rooms span the gamut. The pleasant courtyard sitting area with pool features chairs that are long on looks and short on comfort.

The tiny lobby with its starkly dark motif - set off by a lipstick-red couch - sets the tone for this W. Rooms come in many sizes, the best are the airy affairs that open onto the inner patio. Here you can ponder the azure waters from the comfort of your room chairs. Colours are a restful combination of beige and various fruity accents (plum etc). Rooms have numerous electronic gadgets (wi-fi, big TVs) including CD players where you can play the included W soundtrack (just in case you want the New Agey beats that fill public spaces to drive you to sleep). The building itself is an understated beige stucco affair, that blends in streetside surprisingly well.
