It appears that an over-eager designer somehow convinced their corporate boss to bypass conventions typical of conference hotels. Flashy and new, rooms in this full-service hotel have been vividly designed using one of two concepts: 'urban' or 'chilli'. The results are pleasing and bright, though you mightn't want to wake up hungover in these surroundings!Urban rooms, supposedly the more staid option, come with exaggerated dark-grained faux-wood furniture set against solid coloured walls with translucent curtains ranging in colour from purple to blue to orange. Chilli rooms, which attempt to celebrate the vegetable, raise the ridiculous bar to a higher level with plastic beaded window coverings and mirrors framed in clear, sculpted plastic. The colourful pastiche covers rooms with typical dimensions, ordinary beds and usable furniture. The hotel has many wheelchair-accessible rooms and a special floor that attempts to mitigate common allergy triggers. Downstairs, the restaurant Circo serves fresh fish and tapas with unique place settings. Don't be surprised if your plate is stacked on your utensils and your napkin folded into an animal shape.

Removed from the centre, your immediate surroundings include unexciting university buildings, office towers and a shopping mall. But you are also near the Ankerselva, a river whose banks are lined with trails and parks. It leads directly to the centre (a 45-minute walk), passing by waterfalls, converted factories and the hipster neighbourhood of Grünerløkka.
