Address: Ranna puiestee 2, Kesklinn , Pärnu 80012, Estonia
If you've come to Pärnu exclusively for its beach pleasures and couldn't care less about comfort or being smack downtown, this hostel has what much pricier options can't offer: a prized location right by the sea (a mere 100m strut is all it takes to hit sand).A typically Soviet-style grey concrete box-like construction from the outside, you can bet that the Kalevi hasn't won any design awards in quite some time. Inside you'll find sparse but spacious rooms for up to three people. Try to get one with newer beds, not the old coffin-like Soviet deals. Clean toilets and showers are shared, and there's a small kitchen for guests to use. In short, the Kalevi has all you need within decent if dull surroundings, but the tradeoff is sweet: being practically on the beach - perfect for early morning jogs, late-night romps and everything in between. With room for only 35 guests, it never gets too noisy either. There's a full-sized football field right outside too, for all those spontaneous competitions. All in all, a good - if not glam - deal!
