A well-established favourite in Abu Dhabi, this competent and elegant hotel is everything one would expect of a Hilton. The relatively small rooms are nonetheless comfortable and many have views out to sea. While not exactly on the beach, the hotel is connected by underpass to the beach club.

Situated on the corniche and close enough to the city centre to be convenient for an early morning meeting, the Hilton offers all the advantages of an international leader without ignoring local character. Al-Mawal restaurant specialises in top-quality Middle Eastern fare and a set of charming little boutiques offer regional craftsmanship not necessarily found in the local souqs. An intimate Thai restaurant, a jazz bar and the ever-popular Hemingway's (designed in the fashion of the American writer's Cuban villa) provide some of the more international flavours on offer. The fact that the hotel is separated from the beach club by the busy dual-carriage corniche is marginally disappointing but the effort of crossing the road is worthwhile for the wide range of water sport and recreational facilities on offer.
