Lonely Planet review

This friendly alpine lodge has staff that are very well-versed in Queenstown's mountain of activities. Rooms are basic but very clean, and some rooms and the dining area have lake and mountain views. While somewhat rambling and harbouring a dormitory-esque feel, facilities here are good. There's a big, well-equipped stainless-steel kitchen, a robust book exchange and stacks of board games and videos. Rooms haven't much character and don't leave a lot of room to spread out, but if you're after a double, you may luck into one with a great water outlook. This place is very popular with backpackers after fresh air and long treks, as well as with those recovering from large-scale pub crawls. Either way, you're sure to find company. Located directly across the road from the lake, it's a pleasant 10-minute view-filled walk into town.
