Popular with business travellers, the Grand Hòtel Reykjavìk is the city's largest hotel. It offers comfortable rooms, attentive service, blistering views from the higher floors, and all the requisite creature comforts in a quiet setting outside the city centre.

Marble floors, soft leather couches and soaring stained glass greet visitors who step inside the dramatic lobby of this massive hotel complex just off Kringlumýrarbraut. The 14-storey tower, built in 2007, offers blond-wood Scandinavian-style rooms with fantastic sea or mountain views. They're large by Reykjavìk standards, with huge windows and sleek, modern bathrooms (where you can soak away those drizzly afternoons in a bathtub, quite a rareity in this city!). Those who opt for a standard room in the older building will still enjoy big windows and all the extras the hotel has to offer, including a decent restaurant, internet access, a small 24hr business centre and a fitness centre and spa. The downside is the location, a dreary 2km (1.2mi) walk from the centre, although a free shuttle bus runs three times daily.
