The enormous Stamford Grand, sandy coloured and with vague Art-Deco pretensions, rears up above Glenelg's attractive beachfront. Rooms facing inland often afford glimpses of the Adelaide Hills, while those facing the ocean will give you the chance to enjoy sea breezes and a soothing unbroken horizon.
The 200 rooms here received a major refurbishment about five years ago and are adorned with soft hues, with the exception of the rich colours sported by the lounges and cushions. Not all rooms come with a balcony so specify that you want one when making your booking. A number of eating and drinking establishments have made themselves at home here, with the dining options ranging from pub-style meals to upmarket à la carte to a slap-dash noodle kitchen. There's also an impressive outdoor heated pool up on the second level. The service here is discreet and meets the high expectations set by the lobby's club-lounge atmosphere.
