One of Rio's loveliest hostels, the Ipanema Beach House offers accommodation in a converted two-story house on one of Ipanema's most charming streets. Staying here is very much like staying in a private Ipanema villa with 30 strangers who may just become your closest friends by the end of your stay.Attracting a fun but laid-back crowd, the Ipanema Beach House is situated in two separate houses. The main house has six- and nine-bed dorm rooms (in three-tiered bunk beds) with two-toned wood floors and tall ceilings adding character to the otherwise basic quarters. There's also a peaceful veranda, a lounge, a kitchen and plenty of space for relaxing. A separate house behind the hostel has three simple private rooms for those seeking a bit more space or privacy. Between the two buildings is a stretch of grassy lawn and an inviting swimming pool, with lounge chairs scattered about. The pool, by our estimation, makes this place an incredible find. Beyond the pool, there's also an outdoor bar, where travelers can exchange neighborhood tips or surf tales over caipirinhas in the evening.
