Imposing and luxurious, the Olympic was built in 1924. Subsequent remodels have maintained the period glamor of its architecture and interior. Formerly the Four Seasons Olympic, this 450-room hotel drips with opulence as bellhops, maids and concierges jump to your service.

There's scarcely a hotel award the Fairmont Olympic hasn't won. Many of the furnishings, including the fabulous chandeliers, date back to the original construction. Concierges speak Spanish, Japanese, French and more, and the hotel's Georgian restaurant has a Versailles-style setting to match the French-influenced Pacific Northwest cuisine. The palatial motif continues in the 450 guest rooms, with lavish bedding, marble and granite bathrooms, and CD players stocked with lounge tunes. Even if you can't muster up the cash to stay here, it's worth a visit to feel what it must have been like to be Cary Grant. Better yet, dress up - at least a little - and enjoy a cocktail in the lobby lounge.
