Ändra is Swedish for change, which is fitting given this property's transformation. In 2005 the stuffy, dark, former Claremont Hotel morphed into one of the city's most stylish lodgings, with a style that's Seattle-meets-Scandinavia.The lobby is like a super-mod living room, with soaring bookshelves and a flat-panel TV displaying images like a painting (except that the images change every few minutes). In guestrooms you'll find classic Danish and Swedish touches like Arne Jacobsen swan chairs, Tivoli clock radios, bath products from Face Stockholm, and a soothing color scheme of khaki, alpaca and charcoal blue. Seventy-seven of the hotel's 119 rooms are generously proportioned suites. Leisure travelers already love the Ändra, and business travelers are equally well cared for with meeting spaces, wireless internet throughout, and concierge services. There's a small fitness room, or you can visit the well-regarded Seattle Athletic Club for more intense workouts.
