Lonely Planet review

A slightly hard to find place, where the 20-something crowd hang on a budget. It's called a guesthouse but is laid-back, with a convivial, laissez-faire spirit. There's no curfew but guests are asked to respect the midnight quiet rule because of its decidedly residential location. This may be one of the city's best low-budget options. It's got all of the basics that today's frugal adventurers have come to expect like free internet, free breakfast (well, toast and coffee), free use of the washing machine plus - a real rarity in this country - a clothes dryer (it's not free, but reasonable given the high cost of power). Bathrooms are shared but there are several sleep options that will suit independent travellers who don't mind bunking with strangers plus rooms for couples and small groups. One part businesswoman and one part cultural activist, Mrs Kim has been running the guesthouse for four years with an enthusiasm and verve evidently much appreciated by her guests - witness the photos and souvenirs on the walls.
