We reckon Vincent himself would have approved of this small hotel's vibrant colour scheme. Rooms feature tiled floors, yellow walls and attractive bathrooms; those at the front are nice and light.

The owners of Seville's only hotel chain came up with a very clever marketing strategy when they decided to endow their properties with the names of famous painters and decorate each one in vivid colours. There's not much to differentiate this place from the Dali, the Zurbarán or the Picasso - all offer central locations, attractively decorated reception areas and simple but pretty rooms. Of the three, the Van Gogh has the best location (it's in a quiet street behind the Alcázar) and largest rooms. Unfortunately, its reception staff could benefit from some lessons in customer service. Note that during Semana Santa the processions make their way directly past the hotel's front door and the views from the front rooms are fantastic.
