Housed in a small purple-and-gold house on a rather grey and gritty street in north-central Sofia, the six-room guesthouse is a cheerful budget alternative for those looking to avoid hostel drunks or boutique prices. Each of the themed rooms are minimally furnished, but things can get a little cosy. Rooms don't offer much elbow room - most have two twin beds, and a small bathroom. None have TV. Probably the most inviting is Belle Epoque, with wood-carved bed frames and chintzy wallpaper. The guesthouse confessed to having difficulty finding furnishings for the 'Disco' room, the explanation: 'In Sofia we didn't disco in the 1970s, and we have none of that furniture.' We can all manage without.
