Built for business, this 245-room chain hotel - just south of Sofia's National Palace of Culture and Yuzhen Park - is a well-run hotel with personable English-speaking staff and lots of weekday guests using the 1st-floor conference rooms and business centre.

Rooms are comfortable, but run the standard chain line (whoever picked the streamy geometric blue carpet should get knocked a month's pay). The beds are nice though - with big duvets and stacks of pillows. Those who are business focused can enjoy a small glass-top work desk, but Internet access is an extra charge (wi-fi in the lobby and restaurant, high-speed links in the room). The suite is bigger, with an extra TV room, table and two love seats. The higher-priced executive rooms have few advantages to the practically identical doubles (free bottle of water, three hours of Internet, better soaps in the bathroom and alarm clock by the bed, plus the buffet breakfast is included). The fitness centre is open 24-hours and has a small tiled pool. There are nonsmoking and smoking rooms.
