Rooms in this modern hotel range from 19th-century classical to the latest styles, making the utmost use of marble and dark wood. The attached restaurant and series of bars, dating from 1863, is one of the grandest in the city.

Though Berns is awash in history, the rooms are surprisingly up-to-date. Service is impeccable, and the location can't be beat - you're at the edge of Berzilii Park just a few feet from Kungsträdgården, a hub of activity all year round, whether it's a boules tourney in summer or ice skating in winter. Guests have access to the fitness centre and pool at the Grand Hotel. The bar complex, Berns' Salonger, is one of the hippest destinations in the city. It was designed by Terence Conran and has a menu that's as chic as its clientele. It hosts live music most nights and turns into a throbbing disco in the wee hours.
