Perched between the chaotic Slussen interchange and Södermalm's underground highway, Sweden's first Hilton features grand marble staircases and vast, stylish public areas. Rooms are strongly influenced by contemporary design, and lobby furniture is from the Fritz Hansen-Oxford design series.The main common areas here feature wide-open, airy designs in wood and marble, sort of an airport-lounge-meets-Jetson-ski-lodge type of thing. The restaurant-bar, Eken, is renowned for its food as well as being one of the hipper late night destinations in Söder, and it's impossible not to look glamorous when framed by its enormous picture windows overlooking the city lights. There's an auditorium for presentations, film screenings and conference talks and the like, where performances from dance to orchestra to jazz are frequently held; there are also several other levels of restaurants.
