We know what you're thinking: it looks like a bit of a schlep from the main downtown area. But stay with us. This place is a really good-value option for budget travellers seeking to soak up a bit of Sucre's famous colonial atmosphere.

There are not many places in Sucre where you can find high-ceilinged hotel rooms built around a leafy colonial courtyard for a budget price. But you can here. So ignore the gently decaying atmosphere, pull up a chair in the courtyard to catch the afternoon sun and soak up the chilled-out vibe. The rooms do feel a bit dark and drafty (note to management: more natural light), but the friendliness of the welcome more than helps to compensate. The owner is very knowledgeable on local attractions and happy to advise about onward journeys. Overall this place feels like a hostel with the facilities of a budget hotel, making it a good spot to meet other travelers. So get over the walking distance from the main square. Besides, after a night at one of Sucre's great restaurants, the exercise will be good for you.
