Lonely Planet review

A few years ago the Hilton had the most anticipated facelift Sydney has seen in a long time. After 30 months of toil and a bill in the hundreds of millions, the results are truly radical, and with heavy bookings ever since, it looks like the designers got it just right.

Try to contain your glee as you waltz into the luxe Hilton. The 577 rooms here are the last word in cooler-than-cool splendour, with black beam timber bedheads, flatscreen TVs with DVD players, internet telephony and a system known as 'Magic' that they say will see all your needs, wants and desires satisfied before you even know what they are. Uberchef Luke Mangan has taken charge at the on-site Glass brasserie, and the historic and gorgeous Marble Bar still lures the beautiful people downstairs. Business facilities are state of the art, and service standards are sky-high. Which room does Paris stay in?
