This newcomer is Albania's first hostel. It has 13 beds in three dorm rooms with two shared bathrooms, although at the time of research they were working on converting the downstairs floor into more rooms and a bar. It's clean, comfortable and fantastically cheap.

The young crew that run this place are your best bet for finding a good time in Tirana. The hostel has a community feel and if you're at all social you're likely to be welcomed into the large extended network of friends that gravitate around the place. The large two-storey house has plenty of communal space, including a lounge room, large balconies, a garden and a kitchen and laundry for guests to use. Bedding, towels and lockers are provided and heating is courtesy of a woodstove and some portable radiators. Winter power cuts are usually brief, but they do tend to affect the water supply. The house is central, located on a busy road between the Swiss embassy and the Italian ambassador's residence. You'll be able to come and go as you please with your own key to the outside door.
