Address: Corso vittorio emanuele ii 54 , Torino 10123, Italy
This fine old building with its grand canopied entrance houses a surprisingly good value four-star hotel. The location is a short suitcase trundle from the main station and the rooms are large and comfortable with all the exec-style extras.Although the vast marbled lobby is somewhat dated and anonymous, the front desk staff are warm and helpful. Tucked into one end of the reception is the Circulo piano bar which may also help to relax you. The bedrooms are good size with warm wood furnishings and classic regency style curtains and carpets in various tones of red. Although this could feel a bit stuffy in mid summer, the general feel is relaxing thanks, in part, to the double glazing which blocks out the cacophony of street noise. Front rooms have majestic views of the decorous 19th-century Porto Nuova train station. Only the superior rooms have kettles but every guest is treated to the lavish breakfast buffet, which includes bacon and eggs for poor deprived Brits. The hotel's Le Regine restaurant has a good name; the ricotta and pine-nut tart with strawberry cream is a calorific delight.
