Lonely Planet review

Created in 2004 by the merging of two elegant 19th-century mansions, this boutique hotel, all black, white, soft fuscous and beige, is cool and ultramodern. For gastronomic delight, there's no need to even step outside. Senzone, the hotel restaurant, is as stylish as the hotel itself.

As you enter, light streams from the garden before you. There's a well-stocked bar and large relaxing guest lounge, not to mention cool abstract artwork throughout public areas. Attentive staff in trim, black uniforms are welcoming and happy to print out your home online newspaper, wherever you hail from. Bedrooms have big, well-sprung beds and are stylishly furnished in contrasting black and white. Bathrooms are also large, with double washbasins and separate toilet. Most come with a deep bathtub and all have quality toiletries. Eighteen doubles surround the tranquil jardín de aromas (scented garden) from which the Senzone chef plucks fresh herbs. Bodyna, the hotel's newest feature, offers a range of sensual massages, mudpacks and water treatments while the basement fitness centre has a sauna, Jacuzzi, Turkish bath - and a pool that's scarcely bigger than a bathtub.
