Lonely Planet review

The perfect perch for people-watching, handily placed near the train station and overlooking a lively square, Campo San Geremia. All of Venice troops past your windows by day, and when the day-trippers stampede out of town at sunset, locals disappear into streets right off Lista di Spagna for happy hour. This stretch of Venice's main pedestrian boulevard is lined with restaurants, shops, and cafes, but by night it's perfectly quiet. Bring earplugs though if you're not an early riser, and don't find charming the morning ringing of the church bells across the square. Whether you're travelling with an entourage or solo, this hotel's cornucopia of room sizes offers suitable accommodation. Rooms are compact and practically designed, with clean bathrooms and twee coverlets that verge on kitsch. Furniture is mostly traditional Venetian, with some gilt-edged cream lacquer headboards painted with rosebuds and bow-legged bedstands, though multiple occupancy rooms are more mid-century spartan. In-room internet access is provided, and information and dining advice dispensed freely at the friendly reception.
