Tucked up a little alley, this hotel is well placed for the Ghetto and Museu Ebraico, and is walking distance from the train station. Recently updated rooms are good-sized and rather tastefully restrained - the vivid colours here are reserved for the en suite bathrooms. If you're lucky you'll be greeted in the snug wood-panelled reception by moustachioed owner Leo Silva wearing a patterned jacket and a wide smile. The 10 guestrooms are up the stone staircase, and feature beamed ceilings and views over the garden patio breakfast area, where people tuck into packaged croissants - sadly common in budget hotels in Venice due to strict local health regulations. The bathrooms add an element of the unexpected, with a swath of red in spacious No 7 and others decked out in Tiepolo sky blue. The hotel also owns practical apartments for up to six people near Ca D'Oro.
