The Bristol, a Viennese landmark of some standing, is a grand old dame of the Ringstrasse. Located opposite the venerable Staatsoper, it occupies possibly the most celebrated corner in the entire city, and has an interior to match its surroundings.

The hotel has received its fair share of renovations and upgrades over the past century, but its presentation and atmosphere have remained true to its original conception in 1892. Saturated with fin de siécle antiques of every conceivable shape and form, this is a hotel firmly set on tradition and good old-fashioned indulgence. Rooms are very busy and filled with deep armchairs, crystal chandeliers, sumptuously brocaded beds and marble-lined bathrooms, but also come with every conceivable service and modern amenity. For something special, reserve rooms 660 or 663; both are top-floor corner suites with bedrooms residing in turrets. The tiny fitness room, also on the top floor, enjoys the best view of any gym in the city, overlooking the Ringstrasse and Staatsoper. Unsurprisingly, Bristol's Michelin-starred Korso restaurant specialises in silver service and fine cuisine.
