Looking for a cheap bed with no frills? The option of cooking for yourself? Something only a stumble away from Vienna's main train terminal for all destinations west? Then Do Step Inn may just be what you're looking for.

Near Westbahnhof, one of Vienna's main train stations, this small hostel/apartment rental is handy for those arriving/departing by train from the west. It's by no means a flash residence - it's located in a 'real' Viennese house with chipped and marked corridor walls, a poky courtyard guarded by rubbish bins, and the occasional grumpy neighbour - but rooms are generally bright, colourful, and simplistic in a stripped-back Ikea kind of way. Fully-equipped kitchens, handy for those who've done their dash with schnitzel and würstel, are either attached to rooms or shared with other guests. Felberstrasse can be busy any time of the day, so it may be advisable to book a room towards the back of the building if road noise disturbs, or check into their sister hostel in the far reaches of the Ottakring district.
