Address: Herrengasse 12 , Vienna 01010, Austria Show on map
The name may be naff, but Style Hotel is truly a hotel with style, a new contender for the title of 'most fashionable address' for any visitor with hard-to-please tastes to Vienna.Capitalising on the historical nature of the building, designer Maria Vafiadis has attempted, with some success, to create a contemporary interior with overtones of Art Nouveau/Art Deco. Beaded hanging drapes, low chairs and portraits of 1920s starlets all hark back to a bygone era, creating a centrefold spread from an Interior Design magazine; attention to detail is everywhere and nothing is out of place - even the empty spaces look perfectly planned. Dark woods, deep reds and clean lines have been lovingly co-ordinated with comfort - not many hotel rooms can attest to beds with six pillows, DVD players and complimentary Pringles. The ground floor is occupied by Sapori and H12 (try the house cocktail, MiGu), the hotel's restaurant and bar respectively, while the basement is home to the fitness room where an enormous safe door is the only reminder of the building's former tenants.
