As the name suggests, this hotel is not as generic as many establishments on Mecure's books; it is rather a place that oozes of a Vienna from yesteryear, a time when Biedermeier was the style of choice.

Housed in a lovingly-renovated 1820s building set back from busy Landstrasse Hauptstrasse, Biedermeier Wien has managed to capture an architectural style exemplified by simplicity and elegance. This is apparent at reception, where low arched ceilings, wood-panelling and stone floors create a robust-yet-graceful look. Rooms unfortunately do not fully match reception's classic Biedermeier style, but there are touches here and there in crisp lines and bow legs of writing desks, subdued furniture proportions, prints of early 19th-century art, and frilly tablecloths; bathrooms, however, are shiny, white and modern. The upper floor-rooms can be quite pokey, so it may be advisable to book something on the lower floors if you prefer more space. The hotel overlooks a courtyard passageway full of character, lined with boutique shops, cafes and umbrella-shaded tables.
