The burly, bustling Reval is the antidote to Vilnius' plethora of quaint boutique hotels. It has extremely well-appointed business class rooms, the nicest casino in Vilnius and - rarity of all rarities - a fitness centre that's almost worthy of the name. This is one of the finest examples in the Baltics of a lumbering Communist monstrosity being transformed into a pillar of efficiency and modernity. Don't get us wrong - it's still a concrete monstrosity, at least from the outside. But inside, snarling babushkas and Russian chanson music have been replaced by service-with-a-smile and Café del Mar. As an added bonus, the in-house bar on the 22nd floor has one of the best views in Vilnius. While the mid-sized standard rooms - many of which also have great views - are fairly generic, they have classy bathrooms with huge showers and sinks. In the higher class rooms you'll find gigantic beds, kettles, robes and lots more space. Wi-fi is free-of-charge throughout; parking incurs a daily fee. There are a couple of wheelchair-accessible rooms but it's not really family-friendly, due to the nearby casino and strip bars.

The centre of Vilnius is just a short walk over the White Bridge, but while you're north of the Neris you might as well check out St Raphael's Church. A far more popular attraction is the Europa Tower skyscraper, which boasts a huge shopping mall, plenty of eating options and a great view from its top floor.
