If you want Irish schtick à la the Blarney Stone, don't even set foot in here. Jurys is modern Irish all the way. In this case, it means a crystal-clear style that's bright and unfussy. Well-located right on the circle, it's a haven with a Gaelic twist for business travellers.

Behind its eight storeys of light-coloured brick, Jurys is all sweetness and light. A 1960s apartment complex has been converted into a 314-room hotel, which starts with a palette of white (the stone floors in the lobby sparkle) and becomes more colourful in the guestrooms. These feature tartan bedspreads in soothing colours, highlighted by light wood furnishings. There's all the fittings that you'd expect in a high-end business hotel; what there's not is even the slightest hint of a shamrock. Not every Irish cliché has been shunned, however. As you would fully expect, the bar pours a fine pint of Guinness, even if it's far removed from the smoke-filled, windowless confines you might expect. The restaurant, Dupont Grill, opens its wall to streetside seating on pleasant days.
