Address: Princes wharf 147 quay street , Auckland 1010, New zealand Show on map
Perched at the tip of Princes Wharf, this stylish luxury hotel is almost out to sea. And indeed, it's only fitting that in the 'City of Sails' its swankiest big-name hotel should resemble not so much a skyscraper as a large ocean-going liner.Once you enter the hotel you'll be made aware that this place was kitted out to reflect whatever was current at the time - lots of chilly white spaces, solids blocks of wooden panelling and carpets that soak up every sound. One interesting touch is the 'wall of water' feature in the lobby - it wouldn't be out of place in a contemporary art space. Service is courteous and helpful without being in the least stuffy, and amenities like the well-stocked gym and a pool are available to all guests. Rooms are smartly configured, with fantastic bathrooms, and every single one of them has a balcony (the rooms that is). If you really want to bring the outside in, you'll want an aptly named 'Bow Suite'. Remember - the higher the floor the bigger the room. Excellent eating and drinking options ensure you won't need to leave the premises if you don't want to.
