Near the marina in Faro, this cream-coloured square brick of a hotel is one of the town's finest hotels (just a notch below Hotel Eva across the street), though in truth it's rather modest by Algarve standards. Just the same, its smart modern rooms are well located in the centre of Faro's old district.

The long narrow lobby is set with the requisite marble and the artworks along the walls pay homage to Miro in big bold colourful paintings done on fabric. Upstairs, plush yellow carpeting lines the hallways and also appears (spotlessly) in the rooms. There you'll also find blond woods, trim furniture, huge beds, colourful bedspreads and marble filled bathrooms. A few cons: the curtains across the walls give the illusion of big windows, which isn't the case - they're actually rather narrow. Some of the rooms, in fact, are a bit small. And for the price, you'd expect a pool, which is lacking. But there is a pleasant rooftop terrace and bar, which is quite nice for a sunset cocktail.
