At first glance, the City Inn doesn't seem to have much going for it. It's big, it's busy and there's no getting around the fact that this is a corporate hotel aimed squarely at business travellers. But looks can be deceptive. At City Inn, the contemporary rooms are a cut above the cookie-cutter norm. The decor throughout is light, bright and clean, with floor-to-ceiling windows and queen size beds in every room, although the pre-fab furniture is universally generic. Bathrooms are stylish and modern, with nice touches such as walk-in power showers and heated mirrors. DVD players & hi-fis come as standard. The ground-floor brasserie, the City Cafe, is a popular spot. It's certainly not one for honeymooners, but for overnighting execs and short-stay travellers, the City Inn makes a pretty decent Bristol base.
