The paragon of the modern and luxurious business hotel, the Crowne Plaza has a marvellous waterfront location and plenty of facilities including a health club and swimming pool. The competition just keeps getting stiffer, but the Crowne Plaza has stood up to all newcomers and held its ground.

You know you're somewhere good as soon as you enter the sweeping lobby, where friendly and efficient staff greet you with courtesy and the utmost professionalism. Upstairs, the bedrooms and suites are all of a high standard - the club rooms and suites come equipped with flat-screen TVs and DVD players as well as the best views in the house, of the Mersey or (preferably) the Three Graces, as the trio of Victorian buildings lining the waterfront are nicknamed. The Harbour Club is a superb health and fitness centre and comes with an 18-metre swimming pool, solarium, jacuzzi, steam room and all of the usual fitness machines. The well-equipped business centre has everything you may want in order to conduct your affairs but its best feature is its capable staff.
