Address: One queen square , Liverpool L1 1RH, United kingdom Show on map
The well-established Marriott hits Liverpool square in the city centre with an excellent location, spacious rooms and the kind of expert service you'd expect from the brand. Marriott hotels can be somewhat hit-and-miss, but this one really hits the jackpot. The impressive lobby sets the tone for the luxury therein; lots of glass, marble and mood lighting make the staff look even more professional than they already are - bellhops on hand to take your luggage, check-in desk eager to swipe your credit card and answer all your questions. Upstairs, the bedrooms are surprisingly big - some of the twins have two queen-size beds in them. Each is decorated in that ubiquitous style so beloved of the American business chain: furniture designed for maximum comfort and minimum offense. The bathrooms are big and well-designed with excellent showers and nice baths for a bit of luxuriating. The central location (just behind St George's Hall and a stone's throw from Lime St Station) is a huge plus.

You should check out some of the city centre's cultural offerings: St George's Hall is arguably Liverpool's most impressive building, and the Walker Gallery has an exceptional collection of art; but our favourite is the World Museum Liverpool, where the exhibits range from birds of prey to space exploration as well as the country's only free planetarium.
