Backpackers with a few extra pesos will enjoy this comfortable hostel with extras like internet access and book exchange included in the rate. With a lawn fit for mini-golf and tasteful shared spaces, it pushes the hostal envelope.
The manicured green, square shrubs and hydrangeas give guests the distinct impression they're holidaying in somebody's suburban home. Yet Donde German (pronounced: hair-mahn) delivers where many hostels don't, with details like chaise longues for sunbathing, fluffy bedspreads, hardwood details and immaculate spaces perfect for curling up with a thriller from the book exchange or zapping out a quick email. An assortment of international travellers passes through, but the general vibe is one of peace and quiet. Owner German is also a seasoned volcano guide offering a range of expeditions. The singular drawback is dorms that feel a wee bit cramped.
