Apart from some student colleges let out over summer, this is the only hostel in St Andrews, and is located mighty conveniently in the heart of town and just a short walk from the bus station. It's often booked solid, so should be reserved well in advance. It's set in the upstairs of a typically attractive St Andrews building, and preserves its high corniced ceilings and spacious feel. There's a cheery, peaceful colour scheme; in fact, the whole hostel is run along very easygoing lines, so expect it to be clean but not obsessively so. The dorms are good and bright, with metal bunks; groups and families can take advantage of the appealing if darkish attic room, with five single beds. Facilities here are good, with laundry, Internet access, a nice kitchen with plenty of space for food storage, and a large, sociable lounge with board games and decent chat.
