The fresh rooms are all white-linen and light-filled, with working windows that allow real air in. Spread across two levels, all rooms share bathroom facilities and a super rooftop. This fabulous patch of domesticity (with swing seats, iconic Hills Hoist and laundry) feels like an island oasis adrift in a sea of offices and car parks. The service is genuine and genial, and everyone is accommodated, from solo travellers to families.

Intimate, independent and inconspicuous, this 38-room hotel is quintessentially Melbourne: located down a 'Little' street, up some stairs, inside an unassuming building.
