Reaching skywards for 186m (610ft), this mammoth edifice is Europe's tallest hotel. With 15 lifts (have fun riding one of the two external ones), 776 rooms and a pair of restaurants that can accommodate up to 1000 diners, it's superlative in many senses. The very vastness of the four-star Bali isn't to everyone's taste. But this self-contained complex - as much space-age village as hotel and a mere 350m (0.2mi) walk from Playa de Poniente - has plenty of advantages, particularly for families with young children. You can opt for B&B but, for a minimal outlay per person more, you're better off going for half-board. Bedrooms, nearly all with balcony, are large with ample storage space and attractive light cream furnishings. Almost half have separate shower cubicle and bathtub. There are a couple of pools, a kid's playground, a hairdresser and a cybercafe, while, high up on the 19th floor, there's a fitness and beauty centre. Here you'll find a well-equipped gym, three Jacuzzis, Turkish and steam baths and a host of treatments and aerobic activities to choose from. In low season, the Bali is especially good value.
