Central and service-oriented, this nautical hostel scores with travelers. It's located in a historical downtown building with high ceilings and hardwood floors. Reserve early, as rooms are nearly always full.

Vibrant and international, this quirky stop brims with seafaring lore. Most visitors want the character of Valparaíso's coveted hills, but Rincón Marino does prove handy to the bus station and nightlife. Rooms (all with shared bath) are clean and pleasant, with fringed throw pillows. Balcony rooms (there's only two) provide coveted views of the hills. While the interior dormitory is drab it is thankfully bunkless. Guests gush about the fabulous owners who are always at the ready with advice and free maps. Still, they insist that this is a sleep haven. If you want party time you'll have to head out on the town.
