Ideally suited to international backpackers, this friendly hostel is in a good central location. Its decor tends toward the brightly coloured and cheerful, and its up-to-date facilities are clean and neat.

There's a wave of hostels for the international backpacker sweeping across Poland, and Orange is proof it's finally reached sleepy Torun. Situated on the western edge of the New Town, this colourful space is the perfect base from which to explore the Gothic city's sights. Within the rooms, the emphasis is on the vivid, with orange tones, pine furniture, and floral curtains. There's also some striking art with nature themes hanging off the walls, while the bathrooms feature pinkish tiles and clean shower cubicles. The kitchen is an impressive place to practise the gentle art of self-catering, with a long blue counter and sufficient utensils to cook up a storm. Outdoors, the restaurants, bars and museums of the Old and New Towns are an easy walk away.
