Address: 4122 village green , Whistler VON 1B4, Canada Show on map
The only boutique hotel in Whistler truly worthy of the label, the fab Adara combines a chichi mod ambiance with a knowing wink to 1970s kitsch. You're also just off Whistler's main village drag if you want to wander around and brag to everyone about where you're staying.Unlike all those Whistler lodges now claiming to be boutique hotels, the sophisticated 31-room Adara is the real deal. A model of studied Alpine decadence, it manages to combine abject coolness with all-enveloping comfort. The Euro-feel rooms are lined with swanky designer furnishings and have spa-style bathrooms, while the front desk will loan you an iPod if you've been silly enough to leave yours at home. One eyebrow raised permanently in self-mockery - this is the Roger Moore of hotels - the in-room fireplaces look like TVs, the fake fur throws make you feel like you're in a 1970s Christmas card and the dramatic lobby comes complete with a James Bond baddy swivel chair that's crying out for some cat action. Despite the ultra-cool esthetics, the service here is warm and relaxed and the smiles are as genuine as it gets. All rooms have kitchenettes.
