The Witch's Hat is something out of a fairytale. The building itself could be mistaken for a gingerbread house, and the witch's hat (an Edwardian turret) stands proud out the front, beckoning the curious to step inside.

But once inside, you won't be using your imagination so much. Reality is just fine. Twinkling floorboards line this small hostel, and dorm rooms are uncommonly spacious - Sleeping Beauty would definitely be able to fit her mattress on the floor. Everything in the kitchen's supplied, there's a big red-brick barbeque area out back, and the doubles are light and clean. Hopper, the manager, is an ex-tour leader who lives on site. So he knows travel and tours, and there's always someone around to help. And there's always someone to remind you that 22:30 is bedtime - kids retire early here.
