These elegantly furnished suites feature gas or wood fireplaces and terraces with lovely views. More historic (and smaller) rooms, some with views, are located in the Staab House. The cigar-friendly on-site Staab House Lounge is a local favourite for a leather-chaired ambience and single malt scotches. The much-heralded Fuego restaurant is unmissable.Relishing its six spacious acres just two blocks from the plaza, La Posada offers a charming, low-key elegance. The descriptor 'resort' might be an overstatement here, as the main draw for this quaint property is its historic significance rather than a bounty of offerings or overall lushness of amenities. The term resort is, though, reflected in the prices. Unless you're staying in a high-end suite (each with three fireplaces, an antique billiards table, two baths and a private master bedroom) and don't mind high fees for valet parking and wi-fi, you might feel a bit disappointed with the wear and tear of some of the more cramped quarters. The spa feels adequate, the restaurant expensive (but well worth it) and the service can be spotty. But gorgeous artwork abounds throughout the rooms and grounds, and you might even encounter the ghost of Mrs. Staab as you wander the corridors.

The Georgia O'Keeffe Museum will sponsor several special events throughout the city during 2007, declared the Year of Georgia O'Keeffe by the Santa Fe City Council. At the museum, you'll recognize some canvasses straight away: Abstraction White (1927) and Jimson Weed (1932) are practically cultural icons.
