Despite the rather faceless front entrance (accessed through a never-ending sea of car-park tarmac), the Wellington offers a surprising choice of rooms, excellent service and a welcoming atmosphere - all within walking distance of some of Belfast's most lively areas. After the inauspicious entrance, the giant, modern lobby of the Wellington comes as something of a surprise, with deep, leather seats, low tables, wood panelling and modern sculptures. The standard rooms upstairs are typical business style with sunny yellow decor, subtle florals and few frills, but the rooms are a generous size and the bathrooms are well equipped. Executive suites follow a different design theme though and are much more stylish with a palette of warm creams and deep chocolate browns, a luxurious throw over the beds and a split level office space looking down over the rest of the room. In many respects the Wellington is a typical business hotel with international standard rooms but it's the service and attention to detail - the squishy sofas, bathrobes and slippers, and newspapers delivered to your room - that makes you want to come back.
