Lonely Planet review

They're trying hard to be a designer apartment hotel here and they almost succeed. The rooms have flat-screen TVs and some are spread over two levels, although some of these duplex rooms could do with a little more light.Jacobs Apartments has a real buzz about it and while it may come at the cost of a discernible, unifying identity, travellers we spoke with enjoyed the overall effect. In addition to the apartments, there are dormitories which might be Bergen's most appealing (the potted plants in some are a nice touch). The beer garden is ideal for a lazy Bergen summer's afternoon and the café-bar, which doubles as reception, is also agreeable. But Jacobs prides itself above all else on its modern apartments that can sleep between five and seven people. Our nagging preliminary impression is that you may leave wondering whether it was quite worth the money they ask. A paucity of natural light is our major complaint, although you can't fault the location nor the levels of comfort.
