At this swish contender you will quite literally 'sleep with the fishes', thanks to the AquaDom that's the lobby's eye-popping centrepiece. Elsewhere, the streamlined design scheme radiates an urban poshness rarely found in chain hotels. This extends to the two restaurants: the excellent Noodle Kitchen and the hipper-than-thou Aqua Lounge. Free wi-fi.

An ultra-slow lift ride through this giant tank, where more than 2500 finned creatures flit around merrily, is the highlight of a visit to the adjacent SeaLife Berlin aquatic museum (discounts available for hotel guests). Only the Spree River separates the hotel from the majestic Berlin Cathedral and the infinite treasures of Museum Island. The nicest rooms have balconies for the full-on view of this breathtaking panorama, although kids might be just as happy in the ones staring out at the exotic fish tank. You'll find all the trappings of a modern, five-star hotel here, including flat-screen TVs and free wi-fi and Internet. The streamlined design scheme - rooted in clean reds, white and black - radiates urban poshness rarely found in chain hotels. This also extends to the two restaurants, including the excellent pan-Asian Noodle Kitchen, and the hipper-than-thou Aqua Lounge.
