No fancy marquee here, only an innocuous grey facade signals your arrival at this new high-octane hot spot. Its cool, Zeitgeist-capturing look pulls in style-conscious hipsters and gossip mag royalty. Corners are eschewed, from the tunnel-like crimson lobby to the sexy rooms where you could literally slide from the tub into the bed.

It's a sexy, extravagant place that whips cherry, vanilla and walnut hues into a sophisticated style sorbet. At night you can nosh on Thai dishes in the restaurant or cap things off in the dark and moody lounge with a Q! signature cocktail, a refreshing combo of tequila, red raspberry and champagne. Eating or drinking here is a privilege reserved for hotel guests plus a hand-picked group of local artists, actors, musicians and other members of the creative brigade. For extra privacy retreat to one of the tables on a platform and draw the curtain. The spa with its dream-inducing 'beach' - complete with heated sand, aromatherapy oils and calming sound and light effects - is a great destination for getting off your feet at the day's end.
