Ideally placed and cheaper than you'd think if booked in advance, the Marriott offers its usual excellent standards of service in a hotel that won't break any rules of international styling. It's all tastefully done in a classically elegant way without being memorable.Birmingham's Marriott has all the ingredients of a good hotel: fluffy pillows, king-size beds, tasteful decor, plasma TVs, CD and DVD players, good bathrooms, an indoor pool, a choice of restaurants and impeccable service. It's all contemporary, immaculately kept and stuffed with mod cons. The only problem though, is that you could be in any Marriott anywhere in the world. A lot like McDonald's, it has consistent standards but no soul. If you're planning a business trip and want a comfortable, anonymous stay close to the International Conference Centre it's perfect.
