Author tip

The Oxford is in the heart of Denver's coolest neighbourhood, historic LoDo. Spread out around Larimer Square, Lower Downtown is a great place to spend an afternoon eating, drinking and window shopping. Try walking down Blake or Market streets, both are packed with sidewalk cafes, coffee shops and plenty of funky and oddball boutiques selling everything from really cool gag gifts to gorgeous cashmere sweaters and hand-tooled cowboy boots.

Curious fact

When the Oxford opened its doors for the first time in 1891, guests entering the plain sandstone building were amazed at the extravagance found inside. Included were, multiple dining rooms, a barber shop, library, pharmacy, telegraph office, high-end saloon, and, of course, horse stables to park your ride overnight!

  Exit the airport onto Pena Boulevard.
  Continue south for 10 miles.
  Take Exit 1A/Interstate-70 West.
  Proceed west on Interstate-70.
  Take Exit 274/Interstate-25 South.
  Proceed south on Interstate-25.
  Take the 20th Street exit.
  Turn left onto 20th Street.
  Drive toward downtown.
  Turn right onto Wazee Street.
  Turn right onto 17th Street.
  The hotel is immediately on the left.
